Mark W.

Mark W. | Kansas

Mark works at a cooperative in Kansas and shares what his experience working as a propane delivery driver and service tech at the co-op is like.

describe what your day looks like:

During the winter time, it’s all about propane delivery. Every morning I review my list of deliveries and review the best way to complete my route. And then I hit the road. The majority of customers I am delivering to are using the propane to either heat their house or their animal barns. So it is so important that I don’t let them run out as both people and the animals are depending on me to keep them warm and safe. During the summer time, I focus on service work and repairs before the next winter season.

Favorite thing about your job?

My customers. I enjoy knowing that I am able to provide them with a critical energy source for heat. But I also pride myself in knowing and understanding their operations so I can provide them with the best customer service. It’s all about the relationships that I can build with the people I work with.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER?

I love being in the outdoors and this job offered that. I was also attracted to the benefits and flexibility that was offered by the cooperative. But one more thing that keeps me here is the fact that everyone helps each other in this business. When the coop says they “Embrace the Cooperative Spirit”, its not just empty words, but reflects in their actions. It’s exciting to be a part of that.
